ALLARM is excited to report that Stream Team has expanded to Dauphin and Lebanon counties in Pennsylvania! We are so thankful for our colleagues for helping to facilitate stream monitoring opportunities while continuing to navigate COVID training protocols.
Over the past year, ALLARM connected with Casey Clauser, a Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Coordinator, to connect with stewards about stream monitoring opportunities, including a visual assessment workshop last winter. As we came into the summer, ALLARM conducted an information session and was thrilled with the high interest in the region. By the end of July, ALLARM trained 25 new monitors in a virtual workshop. These monitors add 12 new water quality monitoring sites in Susquehanna River watershed. Many thanks to the Master Watershed Steward’s Coordinators as well as Ted Evgeniadis, Lower Susquehanna River Keeper, for helping us connect to potential volunteers and identify new monitoring sites.
