On January 12, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay conducted their first entirely virtual new monitor onboarding session. And, it was a success! Volunteers with Friends of Dragon Run, located in eastern Virginia, completed a virtual training session and learned how to properly use monitoring equipment. A few days later, the group passed an online exam to become officially certified. Friends of Dragon run will be collecting samples year-round on a monthly basis. Monitoring samples will include air and water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, water clarity, and bacteria. They plan to include these data in their annual report and on educational paddle trips with local schools. Welcome, Friends of Dragon Run!
